Making a Mask - Fantasy Valentine

I was invited to a Masquerade Party last week, it was short notice so I decided to make a mask (with some help from my mumma) and go as a Flower, ha ha.

Directions:

1. Firstly buy a cheap papier mache mask from a $1/2 store and find some pretty papers that you want to rip up and cover the mask in, just use a regular craft glue for this.
2. Once this is done and dry, trim excess paper away from edges and fold small amount to the back, making small cuts all the way around to help keep things smooth, remember to do around the eyes as well. Coat the mask with a layer of glue to give it a 'softened' look and let it dry. Find a pretty braid or ribbon and glue around the mask leaving some hanging down on the side where you want the main decoration to be and then add some nice large looped ribbons here for interest.
3. Find some pretty decorations, I used ribbon, an old broken flower that was stuck to my door, an odd earing with dangly bits, some braid just look around for odd bits and pieces (ask friends who may have some too, broken jewelry works well).
4. My mum has lots of craft supplies so I raided her stash for a crochet butterfly and some sparkly bits, hehe :) These were glued to the side for the smaller decorations, along with some ribbon which I looped and some of the larger petals from the flower which I glued underneath the mask (peeking out). Be sure to poke through the hole for the elastic too.
5. I then went around the outside of the eyes with a lovely vintage gold glitter glue and added some more ribbons to the side of the mask where the larger flower was glued. I broke the earing up and attached it to a stip of ribbon and then glued along the bottom of the mask on one side with a hot glue gun.
6. Some smaller flowers were then added to the other side to balance the mask out and a bit more glitter glue lightly placed on the large petals. I layered 2 or 3 small flowers to give more dimension and interest.

*******

There are so many things you can do to a mask, remember to make sure you can see through the eyeholes properly before decorating your mask because some masks have eyes that are set wide apart and you can't see properly. If this happens you may have to cut the inner corner of the eyeholes a bit more for a better fit, yes, I had to do this myself when I was half way through so we live and learn :) .... hahahaha

Hope you find this helpful

Queensland Flood Disaster, 2011

Hey there
I’ve been getting a lot of messages, emails and comments from my YouTube subscribers asking if I’m ok here in Queensland due to all the flooding and I’d just like to let you know that yes I am, we only had minimal flooding where I am but thanks for your concern and although I’m not directly affected by this, in a way I am because there are people I know who were in these floods and were trapped in their areas and I also think that something of this magnitude affects all Australians. As most of my Australian subscribers may know, about 75% of Queensland was flooded and parts of NSW and there is also flooding in Melbourne but it does seem that the water levels are now starting to drop, there are so many terrible stories I hear but the Australian way is to stick together and lend a hand.
Thousands of people have lost everything in these floods and I was going to suggest donating items to a charity for the flood victims but I’ve heard that the authorities are asking that no more ‘physical’ donations be sent at this time because they need money donations much more urgently, they will eventually need more clothing and bedding but money is something that will get things up and running again quickly. The clean up after flooding is a HUGE job that has to be done as quickly as possible to help prevent diseases and to get communities up and running again, thousands of people are volunteering for this task in Queensland alone. There’s a fund that has been set up for donations by the Government and various ways which you can donate. Oh and I’m pretty sure the RSPCA are in need of donations for the animals, many people had to leave their pets behind and there are large numbers of cattle also in need of care so if you can help in any way it would be great.
Now I know not everyone can afford to donate money so if this is the case, please - send your thoughts and prayers to all those in need, to all those that are lost and to all those that have lost loved ones, it would be really appreciated.
Thankyou and take care

Balmshell - The Cutest Lip Glosses

I have just put up a video review on the 'Balmshell' lip products which you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1mJvqJfn5Q. I was sent these products to try out and received them on Christmas Eve, it was just like an early Christmas gift when I opened up the package because these are possibly the cutest lip glosses I've ever come across, the full size ones have a detachable part which turns into a key chain .... how good is that!!! But not only that each different lip gloss tells a different story by way of a floating illustration (the part you keep for the keychain). They are NOT sticky in any way and the colours work really well (not too pigmented). Then there are the five 'sample size' glosses which are so easy to carry around with you and I actually like the nude coloured one to highlight my cheeks a bit :) The Cheek and Lip Tint/Stain is my absolute favourite, I used 'Gossip Greta' and love it to pieces as it gives off such a natural look to my cheeks and lips.

Products mentioned:
- mini lipgloss pack (5)
- first lipgloss : Ahh.. the Classics
- second lipgloss: Shoe Fetish
- third ligloss: You Give Me Fever
- Cheek and Lip stain: Gossip Greta

Happy New Year!!

Just taking a moment here to wish everyone a very Happy New Year, I hope 2011 brings you everything you desire :) and that it is better than 2010 because I think that's the whole idea .. that each year should be better than the last.

2011 is my last year in school, I will be in year 12 and I know it's going to be a challenging year but also I'm looking forward to the changes it will bring. Alot happened in 2010 for me and because of this I know I've grown as a person so I'm excited about the future and all that comes my way.

Have a wonderful New Year and remember to stay safe, have fun, don't drink unknown liquids and 'don't do drugs!!!

Christmassssy Things!

So it's almost Christmas and I recently bought a new dress that I LOVE so much that I'm calling it my Christmas dress this year. I got it from 'Forever New' here in Australia for about $70. It's a black floral summer dress with fitted top and full skirt and comes just above the knees, I also used this dress for a theme Formal night not too long ago, it was a 50's night so I wore pearls, had my hair up and wore a tulle petticote just peeping out of the bottom to give lots of volume and bounce to the skirt and that '50's feel', I also wore black stilleto pumps with it. My video of the casual outfit can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3nq9hKRyO0 I teamed this dress with a pair of sandals and a cute necklace that I was sent from 'MyNameNecklace': http://www.mynamenecklace.com.au/?smt=122784 which I totally love and have been complimented on many times and I wear all the time. The one I have is the 18" Sterling Silver variety.

You can receive 10% off right now by using this link: http://www.mynamenecklace.com.au/?smt=122784
10% discount code either: GIFT or Christmas2010

The weather where I live has been pretty miserable for the past month with just a few 'good' days thrown in (remember it's Summer here) so I've been passing some time playing with nail polish on the days where I've actually been home (about 4 days in the past 3 weeks!!!), you may have seen my 'zebra nails' in a previous video.

This time around I've done them glittery, you can see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnZS3kHQMB4&feature=channel I'm not that great at applying nail polish because I don't wear it much, we're not allowed to wear it at school so I just don't bother with it at all most of the time. For this look I used the 'Paint the Town' nail polish by Australis in 'Pleased as Punch' which is a Target Exclusive product, I also used the Base and Top Coat by Australis and some fine glitter I bought from a craft store. A very easy and fun fun fun look for Christmas time, especially because purple is my favourite colour :)

CleanStart by Dermalogica - Skin Care Routine

This skincare routine was requested a bunch! so I have a new video on it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e0qVXD30Lo as you can see I changed my routine a bit since my old skin care one. I was sent the demoligica products to trial, but this is my complete honest opinion in this video and I really like these products. The scrub is prob my fav because it has a really refreshing mintiness to it :D The spot stick also works really well along with the moisturizer and lip balm. Im not too fond on the toner because i get it in my mouth alot :/ and i dont really like the night time moisturizer because it leaves me feeling really sticky and it just isn't that comfortable on my skin so only use it if I have breakouts and wont put it all over my face. I have been using these products for just over a month and have found that they have helped ALOT!!
I ALSO tried it on someone who had back - acne. WOW, it made a MASSIVE difference in just 3 days! I just used the wash cleanser, toner and spot stick on their back and I am deadly serious, in 3 days there was the biggest differance! so I would definately recommend these products if you have acne, back - acne or body acne.
Just remeber always have CLEAN hands when cleaning your face and try not to touch your skin if its not necessary and NEVER sleep in makeup. I hope this was informitive and helpful :)
